Snow day

Yup, you read that right. Woke up to snow on the ground with more snow falling from the sky. Yes, it’s May, no this is not unusual in my part of the Canadian landscape. Being as close to the Rocky Mountains as I (and a few hundred thousand others) am, it’s a rather depressing and icky reality. I hate snow. So-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o much.

But that’s something I cannot control so I will try not to focus too much on it, even with the collection clearly visible on my balcony railing that continues to get deeper. No, there are much more happy and awesome things to consider.

Like the fact that I have a date for the release of Forever Kind of Love. It will be releasing on May 7, 2014 – that’s Wednesday so you know. I also got a peek at the cover for the book (which I will share as soon as I’m permitted) and it is freaking AWESOME! Sour Cherry Designs is the Evernight Publishing cover artist and, OMG! Totally went deep into my mind and plucked out the most perfect design ever. I was stunned and at a total lack of words when I saw it. Which, for me, is unusual. I always have something to say – not always nice, not always polite and usually sarcastic – but I’m never one not to have something to say. Sour Cherry Designs did the impossible.

And, because I’m in a giving and sharing mood, I figured I’d also give you something beyond the (now edited & approved) blurb and excerpt from the Forever Kind of Love page. So, enjoy! ~ Moira

Veronica Roni Malone, the girl of his dreams. A lot of dreams, actually. Fuck, she’d starred in his teenage imaginings and it had been better than anything in his old man’s porn collection. She’d made high school enjoyable for him.
But he’d never pushed her for more, though he’d had an inkling that she would have been all right with that. But he’d never had a girl that was just a friend. Usually, all the girls around him had wanted was his body. Or his class notes, which had been meticulous, thank you very much.
Roni had known him better than he had known himself, not that he’d have admitted that at the time. Hell no. But he could see it now, and she’d stood by him through a few rough patches in their senior year. Including Tiffany Selorski and her lies.
Hell, Roni had given him an alibi and, thankfully, the one that had actually gotten Tiffany pregnant had been outed. Again, all thanks to his best girl, Roni.
She really hadn’t changed much from back in the day. Oh, she was a little taller and a little softer in all the right places and, holy shit. She had a rack on her. Yes, he’d noticed, so sue him.
Shaking his head, he pushed off the car and shut the hood. Giving it a quick wipe, he patted the side panel and went to his office, the dreaded paperwork waiting for him. The only part of owning five shops that killed him? All the fucking paperwork that seemed to try to drown him on a regular basis.
After checking with his receptionist, seventeen-year-old Daniella, he took his messages and shut himself in his office. Sitting down behind his desk, he thumbed through the pile but they didn’t hold his attention, so he tossed them on the desk. Spinning his chair around he stared out over the wooded lot behind his shop, but all he saw was Roni.
She’d looked amazing. When he’d first spotted her, he’d nearly tripped over himself to get to her as fast as he could. Fucking girl had grown into one hell of a sexy woman. Curves to make a man beg and a pouty little look about her lips that made him want to give her the world.

A sunny Sunday

What a lovely day! It’s gorgeous out there. I really should go out and enjoy some of that sunshine, it’s so rare these days that it’s a shame to waste it. And, besides all that, I really need to hit the store for a few things to make it through the coming week. Food people, get your minds out of the gutter. Although, I can’t blame you, mine would have gone there so fast the rest of ya’ll would have had whiplash lol!

In other news… Tax season is once again over in my household. GAH! I hate doing taxes. I really do. And it’s only going to get even more complicated now that I’ll have a second income coming in with my writing. Oh lord, maybe I should hit the liquor store while I’m out too, I may need it after that thought truly settles in.

Onto much happier thoughts though! I’ve created a Facebook group for my writing and the readers that will (hopefully) be anxiously awaiting the next book. Yes, I dream big, sue me. Actually, no, wait! Don’t sue me, I’m broke, I did mention just doing my taxes right? See, no money! Not a dime. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nary a penny to rub together – if I still had pennies that is.

Anyway, back into line brain, the group is called Moira’s Maidens. But really, anyone can join. The group address is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/297960527024072/ so feel free to join up and invite others to join. There will be behind the scenes information before my books come out, there will be special exclusive contests and, if I’m feeling really generous, I’ll even share my cookies too.

Well, that’s all I got today. So I am going to venture out into the sunlight and hopefully not blind anyone with my pasty winter flesh as the light hits it. Have a lovely Sunday ~ Moira

Happy Hump Day!

Thank goodness it’s mid-week. I don’t know why but this week has been terribly exhausting! Of course, the weather isn’t helping any either, Mother Nature appears to be off her meds or something because she’s extremely indecisive about what crap to dump on us. Thankfully the snow prediction has been removed (WOOHOO!). But now it sounds like there’s to be rain.

That’s good, some water is a good thing, everything’s so damned dusty right now a bit of rain to wash it away would be welcome. Especially for me (and all others with allergies) as I’m allergic to dust. And it’s damn dusty right now. On the plus side it might help to green things up too which, given how grey and dismal everything is, would be a welcome change for sure.

In other news, lol!, I started my new book. The paranormal ménage one that is, just for clarity. I decided to start with trouble looming, felt it was the right move for this series and would help to set the tone. Unfortunately my damn characters are a little hesitant about speaking up and giving me the goods. Assholes, one and all I tell you! LOL!

I’m not actually all that concerned as I’m still trying to figure out my core theme to the series. I’ve played with a few ideas but I have found that I seem to be leaning to tried and true too much. I want something new, different, unusual. But since I’m that kind of girl (different and unusual I mean) I have to have my stories follow the same guideline. So, for the time being, it is slow going as I slowly figure out just where this series might, possibly, be going.

I think that’s about it, don’t want to bore you all horribly with my random mutterings. So I will bid you adieu for tonight ~ Moira

It really

Doesn’t get any easier the second time around. Submitting I mean. I just submitted my second story to the publisher. A wee bit different from the first book I wrote and submitted. It’s definitely harder edged with a lot of danger and (if I did it right) undercurrents through the story line.

Not sure if it will get picked up but I’m hopeful. I have a few more books planned for the series so we’ll see how the first is received before I worry too much about the others.

But, now it’s out of my hands for the moment. Which means that, in theory, I can relax and go onto other projects. In theory. Not sure how that will work but I do have a few things I need to do so I shall turn my mind to those projects while the stuff I can’t control goes about it’s business way out of my hands. Cause that just sounds like so much fun, lol!

It’s been a pretty good weekend here. A little chilly yesterday with some overcast but today is looking marvellous. Lots of sun and almost zero breeze so the heat is actually reaching our pasty flesh to help thaw us out from the cold that was winter. A very welcome and definite change. But I’m not holding my breath that it’s here to stay. I’ve lived here too long to think that we won’t see at least one last winter squall roll through. Which, considering we haven’t even hit May yet, would be pretty much a bungee jump without checking you’re hooked to anything.

So maybe I will go out and soak in some UV rays. Have a good day everyone ~ Moira

I got it

Finished. My latest WIP I mean. Done, completed, ended. Sooooo happy!

It’s off with a friend for the first read through to give me some thoughts, insights and all that other stuff from a non-biased-about-how-wonderful-it-is point of view. After that I’ll give it another read through and, hopefully, find anything I goofed up on before I dare to submit it. Course, I’m still flinching over a boo-boo I left in on the first one I subbed so I’ll be giving this one a really thorough look over.

And, because my brain is apparently not taking any down time, I already have another one beginning to form in my head. So far all I see is ménage, shifters (unknown what sort yet) and a fight to the death. This will be my first ménage and also my first paranormal that I’ll be writing in the hopes of submitting. I love paranormal romance, love, love, love! it. I’ve been a fan for years of the paranormal romance genre. Heck, I have bookshelves full of paranormal romance (intermingled with historical romance, contemporary romance, mysteries, horror and a few others that don’t just fit one genre) that basically got me into writing. All those amazing authors and their wild and amazing worlds are to fault. I fully blame them! Shame on you, you wonderful and sensation writers you!

On another topic, sorry ahead of time for this, what the EVER LIVING FUCK IS UP WITH FACEBOOK?! Okay, I know that’s bad, using a question mark and then an exclamation mark but pfft!, it’s my page. And my rant. Seriously, what drug addled fool actually thought that screwing with the way Facebook was set up (again I should mention) was a bright idea? Really?! (I know, I know – shush) First they change how things are seen, then they change how things are secured, then they change how we (the users) get feeds from sites – sites we LIKED!!!! I should mention – because “they know best” (NOT!) and now they are changing the entire flow of shit…AGAIN! This would be why people are annoyed with you Facebook. Really? You aren’t getting this point yet? Do you not actually read and listen to the stuff people TELL you? Obviously not because, if you did, you’d know that not one of us actual users like the fact you keep screwing with our pages. Especially without the option of, oh I don’t know, opting the fuck out of your hair brained ideas!

Okay, end of rant. I’m sorry…but I had to say something. It’s been bugging my ass since I signed on today (I was only off for two days for the love of god!) and saw the idiocy unfolding before my very eyes. Ugh! Again, sorry.

All right, I have things to write down for this potential new story before my brain tucks it in a dark corner somewhere never to be found again. ~ Moira

PS – Spring has sprung at my end of Canada! Shh, don’t tell anyone, they might take it back.

Starting to enjoy this

And, by “this”, I of course mean the wonderful weather. Cause, come on, snow is great and all…for the first two hours and then it sucks for the next six months. So the fact that we have temps in the pluses -and I’m talking in Celsius not Fahrenheit- is a huge plus. Especially in March!

Of course, being Canadian, I also know that it won’t be that easy to slip free of the shadow of evil that is winter. Not at all. No, there will be at least one more major snow storm that tries to beat us all down into shivering balls of goo. But it won’t win, never does, and we shall come out all the better for it.

As we shade our eyes unused to the bright sunlight, our pasty white skin blinding even to ourselves as we soak up the too long without heat of the sun. Slipping out of our bulky gear of protection against the frosty temperatures we once again enjoy not being weighted down to withstand gale force winds of ice, sleet and snow trying to sandblast our flesh from our bones. It is a most glorious time, dear friends, glorious indeed!

You may have guessed I’m slightly upbeat about this whole warming trend we apparently are on. And I am so-o-o-o-o not going to argue with anyone about the fact that we’re going to be sitting above that zero mark (32F for the rest of you) for the next fourteen days – according to the Weather Network. Fingers crossed they aren’t lying to us but, really, they are weather people so we know they have to be lying about something.

But, that’s all I have to say tonight as I sit with my patio door open enjoying the slight breeze drifting in. Yup, windows are open biotches! HA! Night ~ Moira
