So much to catch up on

It’s been a really long time since I did a post, my apologies, but life kinda got away from me. Which means there’s more than a few things to catch everyone up on. First up I’d like to say hey to all my readers, you guys rock, and I adore every single one of you. You always have my back, even when I’m not putting out new things, it quite frankly humbles me to know you guys are always there. Like with Evernight’s 4th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. You spoke and got VIPER nominated for a spot & a chance at the MC Romance title this year. As well, you’ve nominated red rose on typewriterBAD ALPHA for a shot at the Anthologies title. For anyone that wants to vote I have the link to the right (click on the graphic) that you can use.

Now, what has Moira been up to since she last posted. Well, I’ve been writing off and on when real life permits. I have a few projects I’m puttering away on. Mostly I’ve been focused on getting book 3 of the Living Victorious series closer to completion. I’m closing in on the end of Jeremy’s, the bands lead singer, story. But I know I still have some time left on it since I have a lead in for the next book planned. It will NOT be a cliffhanger, but there will be a small hint to what’s to come. Which you’ll clearly see when book 4 in the series comes out. I’ve got the start of 4 already down on “paper” since I needed to know what it was I’m leading into. Be warned, it will be very subtle – but definitely there for those who are looking for it.

Originally I’d planned to have a Christmas story for this year, but time wasn’t on my side. On a good note though, I will have it ready for next year (2017) and I also have a New Years story planned to go with it, a companion story so to speak. I have been puttering on the next Scoundrels book, but LV3 has been my main focus, and once I’m over the hump with Jeremy (he’s been a pain in my ass I have to tell you) then I can turn my focus to getting more biker’s in your hands since they are clamoring to be heard.

Stay tuned stampLuckily I will have a block of time off from the evil day job (E.D.J.) coming up over Christmas, and once my familial obligations are out of the way I will be closeting myself with my laptop to get some serious writing completed. My current hope, fingers/toes crossed, is to have LV3 in Evernight’s hands early in 2017 to have it come out as soon as humanly possible, schedules permitting. By which point I should have book 2 for Scoundrels near ready to submit around the release time. And then LV4 will be close on it’s heels since the bones are already there just waiting for the meat to fill it all in.

Let’s see what else is there… Well, I think that actually might be it – for now. So I will let you get back to your regularly scheduled programming, and I will get on with my laundry before I have to return to the E.D.J. tomorrow. Have a great Sunday ~ Moira

Back on track

This past week at the day job has been, in one word, hellish. To keep it short we’ll just say we’ve been dealing with a lot over the last three months that culminated into the final push last week. So much to do in a very little amount of time. We did it, but we’re all feeling it in various aching muscles and pure exhaustion. Too many long hours with too many projects to try and fit into those hours. It left very little time for anything else.

OrangeDaisy_106231315_XSIncluding writing. Sadly I got absolutely none done the last week, the body and brain was too tired to do more than put one foot in front of the other. Got some done this weekend which was a relief. And with things starting to settle down this coming week I should have a chance to do even more. Since we hadn’t planned for things to be this disruptive at the day job not a one of us had figured we’d need to alter how we were doing things. Boy were we wrong. Here’s hoping we get it under control sooner than later.

In better news is the fact it’s actually spring around here. The sun is shining which led me to cleaning my windows. I’m now blinded – totally – from the light coming through. Should’ve left a few streaks I’m thinking, lol! Did a little spring cleaning yesterday as well, mainly because I had to finish finding the various items I’ll need for the most dreaded time of year – tax season. But I know have them all (I hope) in hand so I can do that once I receive the last piece in the mail that I require and get that off my list of things to do.

In the meantime – writing, writing and more writing. So I’m off to go dash through the shower and get back to it while the ideas are still churning. Have a great night ~ Moira

Gonna be a long day

Spring Time Change / Pink Blossoms and an Alarm Clock on an Old Wooden TableHappy Sunday everyone. The day is sunny, the sky is blue, the temperature warming up wonderfully and I have a loaf of bread baking in the oven. Yum, love that smell. Only reason I threw one in was because of the early hour I forced myself up at with having to spring the clocks ahead. I’m naturally a night owl, have been my entire life, so this whole losing an hour really mucks up my internal clock if I don’t get up super duper early on the Sunday it happens. Need to exhaust myself completely so I can sleep like the dead tonight faking out that internal clock into thinking everything is copacetic.

But the early hour rising means I can get several things done. So far I’ve checked off the list the regular household cleaning with only a quick vacuuming required a little later. Once the bread is out I’ll do up breakfast, do some website maintenance, put up a few posts on my blog for my fellow authors (hey all!) and then settle in to write by around the lunch hour. Working on LV3 and The Scoundrels 2 – going back and forth between them is helping my muse work through what she apparently sees as an issue on the one. No clue what her problem is, or maybe it’s the characters who are unsure. Either way, it’s working.

Last thing to share before I go start breakfast, or I guess technically it’s brunch now given the hour (damn this screws me up), if you haven’t yet checked it out you should. What am I talking about? Well the new blog that seven Evernight Publishing authors, myself included, have started up. The Naughty Quills will have advise for new authors, perhaps the occasional wisdom nugget to share and likely more than a few laughs too. We are also now accepting suggestions for topics. If nothing else you should check out the site. We’re quite eclectic in our writings, time zones, and places of residences.

And that’s all I have for you. Time to top off my coffee and get busy. Have yourself a fabulous day ~ Moira

The gameplan

Spell Check, word cloud concept 9Laundry’s in the dryer which means it’s finally time to download VIPER, The Scoundrels MC book 1 to see what editing notes in the doc I have and what all needs to be done. I received them over the long weekend and since then haven’t had two seconds to do more than briefly glance at the editor sheet with her notes. For the most part it sounds pretty damn good. A few spots I need to fill in to make everything smoother, and a couple goofy things that obviously I wrote while half asleep. Ugh! Really need to stop doing that.

Once that’s off my plate the rest of the weekend is for writing. Which means more work done on book 3 of the Living Victorious series. Many readers have asked when this one is coming out. Unfortunately I’ve had a hell of a time getting back into the groove since Christmas. The extra long break and a shake up around work, nothing horrible mind you – just extra hours, extra work, and no extra help or bump in pay – mucked up my rhythm. Gotta get my groove back basically.

Last thing I need to do is load some more of my writer friends onto the blog for the coming weeks – been slacking there sadly. But I can do that during my breaks when I need a moment to clear the brain fog out.

Beyond that it will be lots of coffee, many snacks, and pounding the keys until my hands cramp and I need to find something else to do for a little while. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I’ll update soon. ~ Moira

A list of projects

Coffee_77856522_XSHappy Saturday everyone, it’s the weekend! Finally. I thought for a while there the week would never end, but thankfully it did. Now I need to knuckle down to work on a few projects of my own instead of the “day job”.

First up are the second round of edits on The Rhythm, Living Victorious 1. I got them back mid-week so I have to get them done so they can be turned in before my deadline. I opened the doc up a few minutes ago to take another browse through, and I don’t see it taking too many hours out of the day. A few tweaks, a couple of little fixes, some word adjustments, and then the final read through in the (sometimes vain) hope of ensuring I didn’t miss anything important. Or worse, I didn’t miss something spelled incorrectly for the sentence structure yet that still exists in the English language. It’s happened to all authors at one time. Something that should be “an” but is in there as “and”, the doc sees nothing wrong with it because it’s a word, but the mess it makes of the sentence and over all scene… Ugh!

Second item on my list o’ projects for the weekend is to get more words down into Living Victorious 2. I got a huge amount into it last weekend, and if I can manage the same this weekend I should be right about where I want to be for the finish. Perhaps a few other details, but not all that many. My one character, the leading lady in case you were curious, in book 2 has a huge decision to make. Something I’m currently working toward revealing. She’s been given a huge opportunity, but to accept it would mean putting the rest of her life, which she’s only recently regained, on hold. She’s unsure if she can take the risk by accepting the opportunity presented. It would mean a lot of strain, and distance while building a relationship she was sure would only remain in her dreams. The girl has choices to make, a lot of them, and very soon. We’ll have to see which way she goes I suppose.

Let’s see, other than that I have a few actual housekeeping projects to look after. ie: Cleaning – ick! But it must be done otherwise my squirrel syndrome kicks in, and I end up distracted from the truly important things in life – writing. YAY! LOL! So it will get done whenever I take a break. A little here, a little there, and before I know it the residence will be clean and there shall be no more distractions from the writing.

Well that’s it. I need to get a coffee refill, and then I will be buckling down on edits so I can get them back to my publisher for the final read through at their end. Have a fantastic day, a terrific weekend, and I will keep you up to date on what’s coming next. ~ Moira

Things to do

Happy Saturday all. A few things to share with everyone. First up is I’ve completed first and second round of edits for Drakon’s Prize, a part of the Bad Alpha anthology from Evernight Publishing coming this summer. It went really well, and super fast. Not sure if there will be a third round, but it’s more than possible given my lovely editor, and I had to do one pretty big fix. I think it works well though in the story – fingers crossed!

I’m also up on The Romance Review today for all interested. You answer the questions, and are put in for the prizes with points. So if you’re interested in getting in on the action it’s never too late! You can check it all out here.

The other plans for the day is to get some work done on my latest WIP’s. Last week I was mostly focused on a yet-to-be-named paranormal I’m working on. Bloody thing’s driving me batty. But it is trundling along rather well. Unfortunately I really need to buckle down, and whip the muse into shape to work on The Bass, Living Victorious book 2. I’ve had a few thoughts on that this past week that I think shall work rather splendidly in the over all story line.

Let’s see, what else… Nope, I think that’s actually it. Beyond a bunch of boring household chores, bleh!, there really isn’t anything else to share at this point. So have a fantastic weekend everyone ~ Moira

The week is finally over

loadingSo happy to say it’s over. It was much too long, thankfully my co-worker will be back next week to take off some of the stress. I’ve also made the decision she is never, ever allowed to go away again. Ever. I doubt it will fly with anyone, but damn it! LOL!

The sun is beginning to set as I contemplate what to work on tonight writing wise. With all my household chores done, thank you very much, I won’t have anything to distract me this weekend. So writing is on the agenda. I have numerous stories in semi-stages of completion that I really need to get on. Some closer than others to being completed, others in their infancy. If only my muse would focus.

I have a new series planned, won’t say much on it since I’m still working on the back stories of the characters, and a lot of the other stuff makes an author’s head spin like the girl in the Exorcist. It’s definitely making mine attempt it from time to time. But such is the life we have chosen to bring the voices in our heads out into the public eye.

I think that’s it for tonight. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Sleep late, be a little lazy, and enjoy it. ~ Moira

Ahhh, Friday!

Friday word text colorful fireworksSo, so, so glad it’s Friday and therefore the weekend. It has been one hell of a week. Between inventory at work, and having to update the system we use so it isn’t such a mess (and a half) to just plain weird people, it’s been a bit of a chore. But now that it’s over I can focus on things I couldn’t during the week when too many “real life” issues yanked me one way or another.

Writing. I’m getting into a good part of the new WIP I’m working on. *Cue cheesy porn music* It’s time to add a little sex to the mix *nudge-nudge, wink-wink*. The characters have been dancing around one another for a time now, building up to this moment, and everything is about to explode. Should be an interesting scene to write given the friction they’ve been giving off since nearly page one of the story.

I also need to think about unearthing my suitcase for Easter weekend, and figuring out what I need to take with me. Yes, I’m sort of a planner with a bit of last minute decision making thrown in for shits and giggles. I’ll be off to see the familial types for a “drive-by” visit. Being as short as it will be it’s the best description I have, lol! I’ll only be there for a couple of days total before I have to be back to return to work on the Monday. With one of my co-workers off for two weeks for her sons destination wedding in Mexico we’ll be super shorthanded going into that next week.

Well that’s all I have currently. I’m off to do up some laundry, maybe grab a bite to eat of who-knows-what, and then I’m going to chill out with a book, maybe a movie, and then sleep. Been fighting a bit of a bug one of my co-workers was attempting to spread through the place but I’ve been holding out so far. Have a great weekend everyone ~ Moira

It’s Friday!

TGIF conceptI truly do love Fridays. They are the best day of the week, but only once I get to that 3:30 p.m. point of the day, and the end of the work week is finally in sight. Then the countdown begins in earnest. To know that in only minutes, no longer days or hours, you’re going to be free. FREE! LOL!

Nothing too exciting going on tonight though. A couple of movies, some household chores so I don’t have to worry about it later, and I’m thinking on ordering in something for dinner since my ambition to cook is nonexistent. But for the rest of the weekend I will be writing. Somehow I’m going to keep myself from being distracted, and get into my WIP’s. I seriously need to get book 6 of C&M done so I can get it submitted sooner than later. Plus my paranormal characters are scratching at my brain to get some more of their story down as well.

The key to all of this is getting to sleep at a decent time tonight. I’ve slept like shit the last few nights. I’ll just say it’s neighbor issues, and leave it at that. So I’ll hit the sheets early tonight, get in my full sleep cycle, and then get up to coffee and some freshly baked pain au chocolat. So-o-o-o-o-o good! One of our clients makes them and brought a whole bunch in. These are the best because they are pre-frozen so you can make as many, or as few as you want when you want them. They rise overnight, and then you pop them in the oven for a few minutes. You get fresh bakery goodness, nearly no mess, and the smell is to die for. Truly.

So on that note it’s time to go rescue and fold the laundry. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend ~ Moira

Weekend plans made

Weekend mode: ON - inspirational quote.Yup, that’s right, I’ve made my plans. They involve a lot of relaxation, buckets of coffee, and a good bit of writing. Which I really do need to get to since yet again I’ve had another week of nearly nothing in the writing time department. Between work, and a (mainly because I forgot) unexpected outing with relatives for dinner, I’ve been otherwise distracted.

But it is Friday, and I have two glorious days ahead of me where I needn’t do anything more stressful than starting up the laptop, and choosing some mindless TV program to provide a noisy backdrop. Household chores have been mostly completed with only a couple minor things to attend to while coffee is brewing in the morning. Then I can settle down in my big comfy chair, turn on some noise, and get to work. At the moment not a single character is chattering, but with the folks I had to deal with today at work I’m not surprised they are quiet. The fact they haven’t run off screaming is a miracle. I was damn well tempted to run off screaming at no less than three different instances of yet more proof there are people out there who should be banned from ever reproducing.

I really hate having to be an adult someday’s. This whole “responsibility” thing really sucks. I need to find a job where I can taste test I think. I’d be good at it, and I’d enjoy it too I do believe. I love food. I wouldn’t want the sweets/desserts though. I’d truly hate to have to hunt down the person that eventually pushed me over the brink into hating them. Oh! Even better, alcohol tester. I think that would be one hell of a fun gig. As long as you didn’t have to go anywhere right after your day of work. Maybe they have you come in for a couple of days, you get a room and meals provided, do your job, and then stumble home for a few days to dry out before coming back in. Not sure my liver would appreciate me, but I think it could be an interesting addition for the resume at the very least LOL!

And now that I’ve slipped into the silly end of the posting pool I’m going to take that as a sign to sign off for the night. Hope everyone has a great night, and a wonderful weekend. ~ Moira
