And the ball drops… #happynewyear

fotolia_95610115_xsWell, here we are yet again folks, another New Year has come. While I can’t say 2016 was a “great” or even a “good” year, it did have some highlights. Unfortunately there were more low notes that marred it all. But this post isn’t about the past, what was, or any of that. No, this post is looking toward the fresh, blank slate set before us all. As of the second this post goes live there are no expectations for what might come. We can all dive in with the best intentions and figure things out as we go.

One thing I will say is that I really hope only good things come to you, and yours in the New Year. Not that they will always drop into your lap, no…sometimes you’ll have to work for them. Don’t be afraid to work for what you want, what you desire, and what you hope for. Life’s good things don’t come on a silver platter, they take effort and strength to gain. So, chin up, shoulders back, big girl/boy undies on, and take no shit. Be the guide on the trail to your own happiness in this New Year, no matter what that might mean. Cut out the crap, ignore the bullshit, and do whatever makes your heart pound a little faster in glee.

Be safe out there, take no risks tonight – ensure you have a designated driver, a taxi, or alternate way to get home tonight. Thinking you’re okay to get behind the wheel is no way to start fresh, no one needs to get “that” call this weekend. I’ll see you all on the flip side ~ Moira

newyears-2017

Wowza! #CrazyWeather

Someone really pissed Mother Nature off today. We’ve had a few little rain bursts and then we got a biggie. I barely got through my door before the skies opened up and down it came. It was like a waterfall, along with lots of lightening and huge cracks of thunder that rattle all my pictures on the walls, gotta love summer weather. Pretty impressive display of power I have to say. But whoever got the old girl so upset you really need to apologize already.

RainyWeatherIt’s rather distracting to be nearly blinded by the lightening and to wonder what else might be rattling about while trying to write a story. My muse is too easily distracted already, no need for any additional assistance. But I will admit it was pretty damn impressive. Hopefully everyone managed to duck inside before the rain started otherwise they’ll be really, really wet. And here in Alberta we do not get warm rain showers, not even close.

On other fronts the writing is progressing. Slowly, but it’s getting there. It’ll be an early night for me I think given how long my day was yesterday, and how tired I still am today. These long work days are really getting old. But enough of that, I have writing still to do before I get to have a snooze. So I’m signing off here, and back into my book. Have a great weekend folks – and if you live in my part of the world remember your umbrella, and rubber boots. Stay dry and warm folks ~ Moira

Well, hello there…

Set of alcohol drinks in glasses isolated on whiteLong time no post! I know, I’m a bad author for being so out of touch. The short of it all is my workplace took on the workload of our sister company when the staff, for the most part, retired. Economically it made sense to put the work with us, and it keeps us all busy. Well, some of us more than others. Myself being one of the “some”. I really need to start investing in “beverages” for those long nights. *sigh*

In other news my muse has gone off the rails and started to pepper me with thoughts for this years Christmas story. I know, bad Moira for even mentioning that time of year. Believe me if I could keep my crazy muse on task even when I do have time to write I would, but she’s got her own method of doing things. So I have notes on my you-know-what story for when I have time to actually get to it.

In the meantime I am working on Victorious book #3. That is on my plate this weekend. I have to get Jeremy’s story written because he and his lady love are driving me absolutely around the bend with all their chattering. We’re about halfway after I had to remove a couple chunks that just weren’t working where I had them. The chunks are set aside for later, possible, use should they fit in where the story/characters are leading me. If not then I know I was right to cut them, and if so then I was right to cut them and plop them in where they will work. Can’t have a badly flowing story for my lead singer.

PurpleHeartBook #2 in The Scoundrels series is on hold since the characters are being drowned out by Jeremy and his girl. But I’m thinking that once I make those two happy (happier?) then I will possibly be able to hear what they might be attempting to pass along. For the time being, one task in hand. Sadly weekends are not nearly enough time to get everything written as fast as I’d like, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for those curious as to when LV3 will be out. Be patient, I can only write when I’m home and these days those are extremely limited hours. But I’m getting there! Promise 🙂

Pulled in all directions

RedTulip_106622021_XSHello everyone, long time no post. I know, I know – I’m terrible at this most days. But since I had a couple minutes before I need to head out to meet a friend for lunch I figured, why not? The day is sunny, warm and getting warmer. Only bad thing is my allergies. Good gravy! Only downside to spring in my book is all the random sneezes that come from out of the blue and scare the bejeesus out of everyone around me. Although, I will admit, that part is kinda funny. I am not a dainty sneezer if you hadn’t guessed.

Lot’s on the go today, none of it writing though. I have lunch with one friend, coffee with another this afternoon and then I’m showing friend number two around town. She’s thinking about moving here for work and wants to get a lay of the land before she makes the call. Then I’m meeting up with a couple co-workers for dinner before coming home to collapse. Tomorrow’s a loose schedule with my friend from out of town, depends on what she wants to do but again pretty much no time for writing unless I’m up at the crack of dawn. Not being a morning person that sort of thought really makes me shudder.

Cup of coffee with notebook on deskI’m hopeful dinner tonight doesn’t go too long and then I can get in a couple hours. And if I’m even luckier I can talk my outta town buddy into doing a few things late morning, early afternoon. If it all works out then it’ll give me several hours to get some work in. Characters are talking to me which is a great thing. That means there will be progress. Jotted down a couple notes for what they’re talking about to use later.

Well, that’s about it folks. I’ve gotta get a move on or I’m going to be late. Have a fabulous day ~ Moira

Chilly, breezy Saturday

beautiful woman inspirer of the artist and composer

At least the sun is shining, so that’s a plus. It’s a great day to stay hunkered down and writing, which is what I’m attempting to do with my hyped up muse bouncing off the walls in my head. She’s all over the map which means focusing on the one story I desperate want to get done is a definite challenge and a half.

Since it’s been a while I figured I should do some updates on what’s been going on. The main reason for no postings in the last month has been work. We’ve got a lot of changes happening there along with several interruptions that had doubled up my work, and completely ruined my normal schedule. Long hours meant very little time to do anything else, including writing. Quite the irritation that was I have to say.

But in better news I’d submitted a book to start up a new series right at the beginning of the New Year and it was accepted. VIPER is book one of my new MC series, The Scoundrels. I have a page started for his story with the unedited blurb included for anyone interested in finding out more. Not much to say yet except that he, and his MC brothers will be coming to Evernight Publishing in March 2016. My first published book of 2016 point of fact.

I am working on the next book in the Living Victorious series, currently and tentatively titled The Voice. This is Jeremy’s story, who as readers of the series know is the lead singer for the band Victorious. His story has given me several fits, may be leading to ulcers and is generally a pain in my ass. It took me several fits and starts to even get the story moving along, but now I’ve found some sort of pace that seems to be working. No date yet set for all those who are wondering since I haven’t even got halfway quite yet. Once I have him and his leading lady, Melanie, submitted I will let everyone know and what the projected date of release might be. No promises but I’m hoping to have his story submitted sometime in February – barring any more issues with these two characters.

I think that is about it for the time being. I will have more things to announce in the coming days so stay tuned for that stuff. In the meantime I am off to get a coffee refill and slap around my characters and my muse in the hopes to get something productive done today. ~ Moira

Relaxing the day away

Vector winter scene with forest background isolated on white.
Today will be a nice lazy day for the most part. I do have to run out for a few things but otherwise I plan to laze around and do some much needed writing. Gotta get my next Living Victorious book closer to the finished point, and I have a couple other WIP’s that will fill my time when I run into a mental block on LV3. Plenty to do on the writing front that’s for sure.

I have a new release coming out on Tuesday, my Christmas story to be exact – Greatest Gift. The cover is fabulous (though I’m still waiting on the unwatermarked version), and the first round of edits was a breeze. My editor seemed very pleased with the story in general, and other than commenting on my comma issue (damn you comma’s!!) there were only a couple little fixes to be done. Haven’t seen a second round yet, but I know things are super busy at EP these days given the sheer number of books coming out this month.

The first batch of Christmas cards went into the mail early -yay me!- and are making their way to the readers and friends who requested one. I can still get some more out in time for Christmas if anyone is interested in a card from little old me. All you need to do to sign up is click the blue Christmas ornament button to the right to be taken to the Google form. There are even gifts to be given if anyone is interested.

Let’s see, what else might there be to share today… Huh, I got nothing. Well, guess that means time to refill my mug and get back down to work. Hope everyone has a lovely day ~ Moira.

Getting back to normal

TheBass-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-finalimageThe vacation is nearly over which means it’s sadly time to get things back to normal. To that end some updates on a number of projects. First on the docket is the release of The Bass, Living Victorious 2. It will be coming out this Thursday, November 12th. And check out this amazing cover by the way-too-talented-to-be-real Jay Aheer. It is jaw droppingly gorgeous naturally because she doesn’t seem to do anything else. And, as always, links will be coming for this as soon as I have them on the day (or earlier if I’m lucky).

Got some work done on book 3 of the series while I was on holidays. I actually had to delete a chunk because it just was not working for me. But now it’s back on track and our lead singer is making some progress. More to come on what struggles he, and his leading lady, will face in their story to get to their HEA soon.

November 29th I have a spot on The Romance Reviews Year End Splash. There are contests, prizes on a weekly basis, and loads of games for everyone to get in on as well as the Grand Prize of a Kindle Fire HD7. You do have to be a member of the site to participate, but it is 100% free to join. So if you’re interested at all, get started today over at TRR.

Last thing of note for the moment is that I have a Christmas story in with Evernight Publishing. Greatest Gift was accepted, the contract has been signed, and it is slated for a December release. Apparently a number of us Evernight authors all had the same thought to write Christmas stories roughly at the same time so there will be a LOT of Christmas goodies coming out this year. No release date yet of course, but details will come as I get them.

And I think that is it. I am off to keep working on LV 3 after refilling my new coffee mug, my own keepsake from the Big Easy. Hope everyone has a fabulous day ~ Moira

Get in on the fun

It’s a chilly, dreary Saturday here at home. Great day for staying indoors, and keeping warm. The perfect day to get some writing done as well. Which I am off to do shortly, right after I get a coffee refill, and some lunch. But I thought I’d give some updates before I go get myself busy.

5thBDayBlogHopGoing on now until October 9th is Evernight Publishing’s 5th Birthday Blog Hop. For more information you can check out the post here on Evernight’s blog, including all those participating in the Hop, and the prizes Evernight is giving away to celebrate their 5th Birthday. Don’t forget to leave comments on each site visited for a chance to win the prizes each Author, or Blogger is giving away, as well as to get extra entries into Evernight’s grand draw.

You can check out the list which includes all of my books, and many other fabulous Author’s, by going to All Romance and doing a publisher search for Evernight Publishing, or just click here to be taken right to that listing.

But don’t forget to leave your email address, this is both for me to contact you should you be the winner, and for Evernight if you are chosen for one of their many prizes.

Last bit of information to share is the Facebook Party Evernight and the Author’s are holding on October 8th. Everyone is welcome to join if you happen to have a Facebook account, and are free to. All right I think that’s it. For now I’m off to get that refill, and get down to work. I still have a Christmas story to attempt to finish in time for the coming season. Given our weather predictions for the day it seems fitting to work on it. Have a great weekend, and don’t forget to get in on the fun and prizes. ~ Moira

Allegra Hanson doesn’t work for the Council, and yet she’s been roped into assisting them in their investigation into the Blackwood clan’s supposed activities. Tiger’s Mate by April Zyon
Streak politics, and differences in opinions forced Kurt Owens to choose his own path. While it may be outside of the law in many regards he sees it as ensuring justice for the true victims of crimes when the system fails them. It’s his way of seeing the guilty pay, and keeping his own inner beast in check with the violence, and blood it craves.

Everyone thinks having a super power would be great. Alexa Harold would beg to differ. She’s been cursed to see ghosts, the dead not yet having gone to their final resting place, or judgment, or wherever they belong. They track her down, and harass her until she’s ready to go mad. Learning early in life what she needs to avoid has been the only saving grace in keeping her sanity intact.

Then she sees a man who couldn’t possibly be real. It was just her luck that such a prime specimen would in fact be deceased. Only he isn’t, and he’s taking notice of her. With a little temptation, some mystery, and a taunt he leaves her wanting more.

Kurt never thought he’d find his mate outside of the streak, or streak functions. While those of a supernatural inclination aren’t exactly rare, they have had to be careful and keep their population down. Alexa is the woman for him the only one he could ever want or need. And when her life is put in danger by his own past Kurt won’t stop until everyone understands to get to this tiger’s mate, they’ll have to get through him.

A list of projects

Coffee_77856522_XSHappy Saturday everyone, it’s the weekend! Finally. I thought for a while there the week would never end, but thankfully it did. Now I need to knuckle down to work on a few projects of my own instead of the “day job”.

First up are the second round of edits on The Rhythm, Living Victorious 1. I got them back mid-week so I have to get them done so they can be turned in before my deadline. I opened the doc up a few minutes ago to take another browse through, and I don’t see it taking too many hours out of the day. A few tweaks, a couple of little fixes, some word adjustments, and then the final read through in the (sometimes vain) hope of ensuring I didn’t miss anything important. Or worse, I didn’t miss something spelled incorrectly for the sentence structure yet that still exists in the English language. It’s happened to all authors at one time. Something that should be “an” but is in there as “and”, the doc sees nothing wrong with it because it’s a word, but the mess it makes of the sentence and over all scene… Ugh!

Second item on my list o’ projects for the weekend is to get more words down into Living Victorious 2. I got a huge amount into it last weekend, and if I can manage the same this weekend I should be right about where I want to be for the finish. Perhaps a few other details, but not all that many. My one character, the leading lady in case you were curious, in book 2 has a huge decision to make. Something I’m currently working toward revealing. She’s been given a huge opportunity, but to accept it would mean putting the rest of her life, which she’s only recently regained, on hold. She’s unsure if she can take the risk by accepting the opportunity presented. It would mean a lot of strain, and distance while building a relationship she was sure would only remain in her dreams. The girl has choices to make, a lot of them, and very soon. We’ll have to see which way she goes I suppose.

Let’s see, other than that I have a few actual housekeeping projects to look after. ie: Cleaning – ick! But it must be done otherwise my squirrel syndrome kicks in, and I end up distracted from the truly important things in life – writing. YAY! LOL! So it will get done whenever I take a break. A little here, a little there, and before I know it the residence will be clean and there shall be no more distractions from the writing.

Well that’s it. I need to get a coffee refill, and then I will be buckling down on edits so I can get them back to my publisher for the final read through at their end. Have a fantastic day, a terrific weekend, and I will keep you up to date on what’s coming next. ~ Moira
