Ahhh, Friday!

Friday word text colorful fireworksSo, so, so glad it’s Friday and therefore the weekend. It has been one hell of a week. Between inventory at work, and having to update the system we use so it isn’t such a mess (and a half) to just plain weird people, it’s been a bit of a chore. But now that it’s over I can focus on things I couldn’t during the week when too many “real life” issues yanked me one way or another.

Writing. I’m getting into a good part of the new WIP I’m working on. *Cue cheesy porn music* It’s time to add a little sex to the mix *nudge-nudge, wink-wink*. The characters have been dancing around one another for a time now, building up to this moment, and everything is about to explode. Should be an interesting scene to write given the friction they’ve been giving off since nearly page one of the story.

I also need to think about unearthing my suitcase for Easter weekend, and figuring out what I need to take with me. Yes, I’m sort of a planner with a bit of last minute decision making thrown in for shits and giggles. I’ll be off to see the familial types for a “drive-by” visit. Being as short as it will be it’s the best description I have, lol! I’ll only be there for a couple of days total before I have to be back to return to work on the Monday. With one of my co-workers off for two weeks for her sons destination wedding in Mexico we’ll be super shorthanded going into that next week.

Well that’s all I have currently. I’m off to do up some laundry, maybe grab a bite to eat of who-knows-what, and then I’m going to chill out with a book, maybe a movie, and then sleep. Been fighting a bit of a bug one of my co-workers was attempting to spread through the place but I’ve been holding out so far. Have a great weekend everyone ~ Moira

A good day to write

The Fog (2005)With the weather as dreary as it is, it’s the perfect day to stay closeted indoors to write. We had some heavy, and I do mean heavy fog last night into the morning. It started to clear up for a time but appears to be settling back in once more. For a while there I could barely see out the window, let alone identify any other buildings. Which of course had my mind spinning and settling on that movie “The Fog”. The 2005 version with Tom Welling in it. Sadly Tom was not at my side to help me through the rolling fog *pouts*.

After grabbing a cup of coffee I settled in to try and figure out what I wanted to write. I’ve had any number of ideas bouncing around in my head for new stories. Some might end up being stand-alone’s, while others could (potentially) be series. The only problem with setting my C&M series to the side for now is I feel very much at loose ends, and undecided about what to tackle first.

With that mildly terrifying thought in my head I have about 10 tabs open of different stories I’d sort of thrown ideas down on the page for. I’m hopping between them as thoughts come to mind, and trying to figure out where some might lead. To say it’s a day of expanding ideas would be an understatement. My brain is having a little trouble focusing on just one thing so I’m going with the flow. Never know where it might end up leading to after all.

Well that’s it. I need to refill my mug, and set up a post for tomorrow. Hope you all have a lovely day ~ Moira

Book 6’s been accepted!

Happy Saint Patrick’s day first off to everyone. I hope everyone had a lovely green infused day. I’m very happy to announce that the long awaited book 6 of the C&M Security series, Dangerous Reactions, has been accepted by Evernight Publishing. Projected date of release is May 2015.

Accepted2

This is the prequel for the series, as well as the end of the series as it stands currently. I’m not saying that I’m never coming back to this series – I love the C&M crew – but I am at a stopping point for now. I had six books planned when I started it, and now I’ll have six books published. I can definitely say that at some point in the future I will revisit this group. At what point, or where in their stories I couldn’t even guess.

In other news I’m off attempting to write a paranormal story now. I’m not quite sure where the characters are leading me, but I’m sure it will be interesting to say the least. Most of my characters are, well, “characters” lol! We’ll see where they are going, and where they are leading me. Until then I’m only along for the ride.

Well I think that’s it for now, I’m off to write. Hope everyone has a lovely night ~ Moira

Hello weekend!

Yes, Weekend - inspirational quote.I am so very happy it’s the weekend. It was a very long week at the day job full of people who truly tested my limits to the max, and it wasn’t even the other employees this time. No this week it was the clients. Yet again I question why I’m a customer service rep. I am not a people person. I might be if I didn’t have to deal with the nine levels of customer service hell on a regular basis. And that’s just Monday morning before I’ve had coffee!

All I can think is, one less week until retirement, and way too many to count still to plow through. That and prison orange is so not my color! Which is pretty much the only reason I haven’t let loose the dogs o’ war on these people and told them what I truly think. May whoever you believe in have mercy on your souls (should you believe in them) if I ever win a lottery though.

But enough of that! The plan for today is to write, write, and write some more. I have a book to finish, and finish it I will. I’m hoping this weekend so I can take a day to give it a read through, but I’m making no promises. As soon as I think I have a plan in place someone wrenches the rug out from under me, and fucks up my grand plan six ways of Sunday.

So the only plan is to write. Then I’ll plan to write some more, and possibly even more. After all I have plenty of coffee, I even have some snacks on standby, and plenty of fresh air to keep me going. Though I may need to reconsider having a window open at all tomorrow. Doesn’t sound like Mother Natures quite done with smacking us around with winter yet. That’s okay. If the weather goes as it sounds like it might it’s all the more reason to stay safely tucked indoors, and -you guessed it- write!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend wherever you might be. Stop by tomorrow for something new I’m trying out along with some authors of much greater note than I. ~ Moira

Uniform Fetish Anthology Blog Tour

Welcome to the Uniform Fetish Blog Tour! Thank you for helping all of the authors to celebrate this newest Anthology from Evernight Publishing. I was truly flabbergasted to find out my story was accepted to be a part of this amazing collection of authors, and their stories. If you haven’t yet gotten around to reading my story in the anthology, or even if you have, here’s a little insider information on my hero…

Elegant young handsome man. Studio fashion portrait.
Name:  Douglas Burrows
Job:  FBI Special Agent
Stats:
– 38 years old
– Short sandy brown hair
– Grey eyes
– 6′ 2″
– 234lbs
– 15 years with the Bureau

The following interview with Special Agent Douglas Burrows
takes place at an undisclosed, secure location.

Moira:  Thank you for taking the time out of what I’m sure is a very hectic schedule to chat with me today Special Agent Burrows.
Douglas:  The pleasure is mine, but please call me Douglas.

Douglas it is then. Can you tell my readers a little about yourself? Perhaps why you got into the FBI, and what you might hope to achieve with the work you’re doing with them?
Well, I’ve been with the Bureau for almost fifteen years now. For a time in my early twenties I have to admit to being adrift in life. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with myself. On a whim I took a criminology class in college, I needed the credits, and it appeared interesting. It ended up drawing me in, and making me want to learn more. I could have become a police officer, but I didn’t think I’d be happy staying in one place all the time so I explored my options, and ended up applying to the Bureau. My goals are relatively simple actually. Do everything within my power as a representative for the laws of our country to keep good, honest, and innocent individuals safe from those that prey on what may be considered a weaker person. It doesn’t matter to me what their crime is. If they are breaking the law, and hurting someone in the process I’m going to do my damnedest to see they are brought to justice, and pay the steepest penalty we can manage within the system.

With the capture, and hopefully extended jail time for the man you recently apprehended, what are your immediate plans?
As you know I got to meet, and spend some time with a very special lady. We got to know one another somewhat in an extremely stressful situation so now we’re going to go about getting to know one another better, and at a slightly more regular pace. Whatever “regular” actually means.
(looks over his shoulder and winks at the woman he’s discussing)

I’m sure you’re both happy for the downtime. I have a couple of questions here from my readers if you have the time to answer them?
(adjusts his suit jacket, and gives a nod)
Absolutely, shoot.

Liz C. would like to know, what was your “worst stake-out location”?
My personal worst stake-out location has to be at the dump.

You can’t leave it there! You absolutely have to explain this to all of us.
(tips his head back, and laughs)
We had a suspect in a string of robberies whose day job was working one of the bulldozers at the dump. My partner and I had the pleasure of sitting on a hill out in the blazing sun for days watching him. It also happened to be one of the worst heatwaves the area we were in had ever had. We were out there every day he was on shift logging his movements, and who came round to chat with him all private like next to his machine. The truly horrifying part of it all was the fact the wind would shift around lunchtime to blow that stench right at us.

Oh lordy that sounds nasty! I think we need to get to the next question, so here goes. Evita would like to know, and I’m paraphrasing slightly, “how do [agents] handle being away from family for long periods of time, especially if married and with kids”?
I personally don’t have experience with this yet, so I’m in no way an expert on the subject. But from what I’ve heard discussed by other agents in a situation where they have a family it’s just like any other job that takes someone out of town. You talk on the phone when you can, or Skype I suppose would be much more popular these days. In our line of work we’re never sure where we’re going, or for how long so it does take a toll. A colleague told me once that when she is home during the down time her entire focus is on her family. Anything to do with the job that isn’t an immediate or pressing concern is put on the back burner. Her husband, and boys both know her job is hard both mentally and physically. But they also know that when she’s home they are getting all of her. Her attention isn’t split between them, and the job. Everything is focused on them, and them alone.

Sounds like a balancing act of sorts. I suppose like any marriage with, or without travel of this sort it’s all about communication, and making the time spent together count.
(he smiles)
In my line of work any relationship at all from dating to marriage can take a hit without open lines of communication.

Thank you again to Special Agent Burrows for taking the time to talk with me. It was a true pleasure to have him here. Now let’s take a look at the story…

Magdelaine “Maggie” Dubois has found herself at the wrong place at the worst possible time. When a man is killed before her she only has one viable option. Go to the police. What she never expected in the aftermath of complete terror, and fear was to meet a man who awoke something so sexually primal within her.

Special Agent Douglas Burrows of the FBI is in the business of putting those breaking laws behind bars. He’s questioned dozens of witnesses over the years, and held more than a few hands. None of them have ever affected him quite like she does with nothing more than a look.

Douglas will do whatever is necessary to protect Maggie. While watching over her is his sworn duty, his need for the passionate witness is all together very personal.

And to close this post out, a look between the pages just for you…

Five hours later a hotel employee was opening the door to the room the FBI had secured for her. Special Agent Burrows was right behind Maggie. He thanked the man and presumably gave him a tip before sending him on his way. Stopping in the middle of the room she listened as he shut and locked the door.

She was nervous all of a sudden and didn’t know why. No, actually she did. She was alone in a hotel room where no one knew her to be with the sexiest man she’d ever met. And he was only there to protect her.

Which was really a downer when she thought about it. Kicking off her shoes she wiggled her toes in the high end carpet, and took a long look around. “The FBI must have quite the budget,” she commented.

His soft laugh did fantastic things to her body. “Not really. We get great deals on rooms though, so we can splurge a little as long as it qualifies as official business. Besides, after the night you’ve had, a little luxury wasn’t amiss.”

He had a point there. Crouching she collected her shoes and then moved to check the space out a little better. The bedroom was in a separate room off the sitting area they were currently standing in. She peeked in to take in the king sized bed and the open doorway to the side. Most likely the bathroom. One bed, one bathroom, well this was going to be interesting.

Douglas moved around her and set on the end of the bed the bag he’d sent a female officer to collect from her home. “Why don’t you try and get some sleep? I’ll be in the outer room the entire time if you need me,” he said.

All Maggie could do was nod. She didn’t know what to say. She knew what she’d like to say, but she wasn’t quite that brazen. Though with him she truly wished she was. “Douglas,” she said before he fully closed the sliding doors between the two rooms.

“Yeah?”

“Thank you. For doing this. I know it’s an imposition, and must be tough on your loved ones, so thank you.” Subtle, Maggie, real subtle.

His smile said he knew exactly what she was digging for. “Well since it’s only my retired parents that might possibly be affected by this, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Get some sleep, Maggie.”

“Right.”

Once the doors were shut she let out a low groan, and smacked her forehead with a fist. “Dumb, dumb, dumb,” she muttered. “Why didn’t you just ask him if he was available, Mags? That you want to rip that too perfectly starched shirt off his body, and do nasty things to him. Un-fucking-believable.” Letting out another groan she headed for the bathroom. Maybe a hot shower would clear out some of the cobwebs making her an idiot.

Release Day!

uniformantho1lIt’s here! The Uniform Fetish is live. I have to give a big shout out to the other nine amazing authors I’m honored to have been teamed up with for this anthology. I’m one very lucky author to be among such esteemed company. This is my first anthology, and I was very excited to have been picked to take part.

When I submitted my entry I had no idea if it would fit into what the EP team envisioned for the anthology. But hey, I had to give it a shot right? It all paid off too much to my surprise, and delight. Lots of delight actually. Oddly enough I sort of forgot about it to be completely truthful. Too many things going on between submission and that first set of edits I suppose, it just slipped my mind entirely. Right up until the moment someone made mention about it, and then there were a few jitters.

I also want to give a shout out to the nine authors of the Uniform Fetish: Manlove Edition. This is a day to celebrate, but it doesn’t stop here. Next week, March 2-7 2015, is a huge blog book tour. We’ll all be participating as well as several fellow authors, and bloggers helping us get the word out even more. It should be a blast!

For buy links, and peek into my story from the Uniform Fetish you can check it out on the A Passionate Witness page. For now I’m off to do some writing, have a lovely night ~ Moira

Chillin’ out

A cup of coffee watercolorI mean this quite literally too. While the sun’s out, and it looks like a gorgeous day, it’s bloody cold outside. Had to pop out for a few minutes, and that was more than enough for me. Convinced me staying inside to write was definitely the much better option.

Brewed up another carafe of coffee, and did some other projects first. Mainly setting up next weeks blog posts of fellow authors on my site, but also wrote a few more words on C&M Security book 6. Haven’t gotten a lot down yet with this headache I’m attempting to mitigate. But a little is better than none at all, lol!

Other happening’s are of course the release of the Uniform Fetish Anthologies coming this Friday, February 27th. Both editions are up for pre-order on a number of sites already, so you can one-click order now. Links are below for both sets of books.

Long weekend

piuma che scriveHappy Sunday readers! It’s day two of the three day long weekend (Family Day in Alberta is tomorrow), and the sun is out and shining once more. It’s a great day to be outside. If only I didn’t have a bunch of writing I have to get done, lol! Oh well. The window is open to let in the fresh air, the sun is warming the place up, and the coffee is hot and strong. Perfect conditions to work on this bitch of a story.

Blasted characters haven’t always been overly cooperative, especially in the last month and a bit. They did start chatting with me again about a week ago thankfully. I’ll have to see what they have to offer up today, and get some more of their story down. Oddly enough I’m actually making pretty good progress word count wise. This is likely going to be the biggest of the books for the series. But there’s a lot to be told, not only a bit of the history of how C&M came to be, but also Robyn and Grant’s story of meeting, and becoming a couple.

Still haven’t quite figured out what comes next after that, except for clearing up an outstanding point from my editor, and the series. Then… well the series will be done. For a time anyway. I’m quite sure I’ll revisit it in time, bring more to it down the road, but for now this is the last planned book. Not sure how some of my readers will feel about that, but I definitely need a bit of a break from the characters to see where the series may go.

Well, that’s it for this post. I have writing to do, so I’m off to attend to that. Have a great day ~ Moira

Sunny Sunday

SunshineIt’s more than a little chilly here right now, but the sun is out currently, and shining brightly so hopefully it warms up a bit as the day progresses. Though the weather network appears to be mildly confused on what’s going to happen with the local weather. Doesn’t matter really since I need to get to writing today.

So much to do, and so many weird ideas swirling around in my head. Hopefully some of them actually pertain to the stories I’m working on. Today’s focus will be on the C&M book, really need to get this puppy done and out to the readers. After that’s done I can focus on the other stories demanding notice from me.

On that note I’m off to get these opinionated, and stubborn characters in line, and see what I can drag out of them today in way of their story. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday, talk soon ~ Moira

It’s Friday!

TGIF conceptI truly do love Fridays. They are the best day of the week, but only once I get to that 3:30 p.m. point of the day, and the end of the work week is finally in sight. Then the countdown begins in earnest. To know that in only minutes, no longer days or hours, you’re going to be free. FREE! LOL!

Nothing too exciting going on tonight though. A couple of movies, some household chores so I don’t have to worry about it later, and I’m thinking on ordering in something for dinner since my ambition to cook is nonexistent. But for the rest of the weekend I will be writing. Somehow I’m going to keep myself from being distracted, and get into my WIP’s. I seriously need to get book 6 of C&M done so I can get it submitted sooner than later. Plus my paranormal characters are scratching at my brain to get some more of their story down as well.

The key to all of this is getting to sleep at a decent time tonight. I’ve slept like shit the last few nights. I’ll just say it’s neighbor issues, and leave it at that. So I’ll hit the sheets early tonight, get in my full sleep cycle, and then get up to coffee and some freshly baked pain au chocolat. So-o-o-o-o-o good! One of our clients makes them and brought a whole bunch in. These are the best because they are pre-frozen so you can make as many, or as few as you want when you want them. They rise overnight, and then you pop them in the oven for a few minutes. You get fresh bakery goodness, nearly no mess, and the smell is to die for. Truly.

So on that note it’s time to go rescue and fold the laundry. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend ~ Moira
