Time to prepare

preparing for christmas with gift box and ribbons‘Tis the season for chaos, which means it’s time to figure out what I’m doing before I start running around like a chicken without a head. Not a pretty sight. I have my shopping lists – short this year since I bought lots online, but there are still a few things I have to purchase in store. I have done some shopping to date … unfortunately there is more yet to do. *sigh*

On top of that I have to keep my muse, fickle bitch, in line. She’s got me jumping between three stories, one being the next chapter in the Living Victorious series, and two others that are totally different. But I’m staying mum on them for the time being, at least until she gets through her “mood”. If I talk about them too much she’ll lose interest and then start this crap all over again a few months down the road.

In other news, because I’ve had enough talk about that muse of mine, I’ve got my tickets booked to go see the family persons over Christmas. And I have my holiday schedule which means several days of uninterrupted writing before having to head back to the day gig. I’m rather happy about that, my hope is to pump out at least two of these stories and get them submitted by or just after the New Year. Fingers crossed!

Other than that life is good, our weather isn’t too bad considering it’s the middle of December and we’ve only had a couple minor blizzards that really didn’t do much. Which I’m okay with, means no snow to slog through to and from work. And on that note I’d better get to some of that writing I mentioned earlier. Lots to do ~ Moira

Release Day!

greatestgift1lIt’s that time again, a new release is out today. The Greatest Gift, is my Christmas story for the 2015 year. It came outta nowhere and wouldn’t let go until I wrote it all down. It is also my second foray into the Paranormal world, this time I brought out a wolf. My editor seemed rather pleased with it -and we won’t mention my comma addiction- and that made me a happy little author.

So I hope everyone enjoys my offering for the season upon us. And to help get you in the mood here’s the blurb for it to kick things off.

BLURB:

A winter storm will be the catalyst for two stubborn fools to finally realize they are meant for one another.

Holland Frost feels the pull toward him each time he comes near, yet he scares her on a level she can’t explain. When they finally hash things out between them, she discovers there is more to him than she could have believed.

Jakob Nichols has fought instinct when it comes to Holland, but finally gives in to his wolf’s demands to do whatever is necessary to protect his mate. She is his, and no matter if it’s a broken down ride, or late night disturbance, he will be there for her throughout it all.

When a piece from Jakob’s past returns to haunt the pack, Holland stands at his side to support him through it all. Their love, she realizes, is truly the greatest gift.

So many pretties!

One of the best things ever about being an author is getting your cover artwork. It’s like the first piece of the puzzle of what’s to come next. With EP’s Anthologies we get the pretties early – which is fantastic. I love having something to drool over before the anxiety of edits starts. And these are un-freaking-real! Jay Aheer, the cover artist for the Anthology, did yet another amazing job in creating something fabulous. A genius is all I can say. And so I share some of these goodies that I got on Tuesday with you, enjoy.

BadAlhaMF-evernightpublishing-jayaheer2015-banner (1) BAD-Antho-CoversSoooooo pretty… I could stare at these for hours, upon hours, upon hours. But I must tear my gaze away from them to attend to other things. Like first round of edits which hit my inbox today. Haven’t looked yet, but I’m hoping it’s not too bad. After that I must get to writing, because writing is goooooood.

I’ve been thrown completely off my normal schedule due to a familial obligation of the birthday sort last weekend – singing and all. This is something I must rectify this weekend by getting back into the swing of things. Book 2 of my Living Victorious series is calling to me. I left my characters in a most awkward place. Not sure if I’ll pick up there or in the next chapter. My muse is a bit … oh what is the word I want here? … “preoccupied” works I think. She’s being a bit flighty as well, not a good trait to have in a muse for those that are curious.

Need to get her back on target once more. Should be an interesting challenge, and keep me busy for a few hours. But at least she’s giving me lots of great ideas for the book. That definitely counts for something. Anyway, I am off to get dinner going, and see if I can coax a couple thousand words out of the muse. Have a lovely evening, and stay tuned for more information on the Anthology that will be coming out August 2015. For a little peek into my story, Drakon’s Prize, you can check the page here. ~ Moira

Book 6’s been accepted!

Happy Saint Patrick’s day first off to everyone. I hope everyone had a lovely green infused day. I’m very happy to announce that the long awaited book 6 of the C&M Security series, Dangerous Reactions, has been accepted by Evernight Publishing. Projected date of release is May 2015.

Accepted2

This is the prequel for the series, as well as the end of the series as it stands currently. I’m not saying that I’m never coming back to this series – I love the C&M crew – but I am at a stopping point for now. I had six books planned when I started it, and now I’ll have six books published. I can definitely say that at some point in the future I will revisit this group. At what point, or where in their stories I couldn’t even guess.

In other news I’m off attempting to write a paranormal story now. I’m not quite sure where the characters are leading me, but I’m sure it will be interesting to say the least. Most of my characters are, well, “characters” lol! We’ll see where they are going, and where they are leading me. Until then I’m only along for the ride.

Well I think that’s it for now, I’m off to write. Hope everyone has a lovely night ~ Moira

Here comes book four…

dangerous-circumstancesI have an awesome cover (thank you Sour Cherry Designs!), I have a date, and my publisher has the finished, smoothed out version of the book. Life is awesome! Don’t really have a lot to say except that Dangerous Circumstances, C&M Security 4 will be available December 17, 2014 for purchase at a bunch of places. And then a few more about a week later when they finally catch up with the cool kids.

So, please enjoy the fan-freaking-tastic cover, I know I am, and here’s a little something to whet the appetite…

***************     ***************     ***************

It wasn’t so much a sound that woke him. There was a sound, but it was so soft he really shouldn’t have noticed. It wasn’t like he was a light sleeper or anything, but he also knew when he wasn’t in his own bed.

Cracking open an eye, Mack peered around.

He recognized the furniture around him. He was on Denise’s sofa. What caught his eye was Denise. She was in the kitchen of her condo, puttering around while the heady scent of coffee teased his senses.

With a groan, he pushed up to a sitting position and rubbed his face. When he dropped his hands, a coffee mug was in front of his face. Taking it automatically, he looked up to see Denise’s worried face staring down at him. Yeah, she likely had a reason to be worried given how and when he’d shown up at her door.

“Thanks,” he croaked out.

She just nodded and went back to the kitchen. “Breakfast will be ready in ten.”

“What time is it?” Taking a sip of the strong brew Mack let out a sigh. Another sip helped push the caffeine into his system.

“Uh, it’s almost noon. So technically it’s lunchtime, but whatever. We’re having breakfast,” she told him.

Shit, noon? Fucking hell. He hadn’t expected to sleep so late, normally wouldn’t have if he hadn’t wandered around San Francisco in the wee hours of the morning. Pushing up from the sofa, he stretched and winced at the aching muscles.

“Let me hit the bathroom and I’ll be right out,” he said. Another gulp of coffee, and he set the mug aside as she flicked a hand in acknowledgement. Not sure what else to say, he went to the bathroom.

When he came back out she had the food on the table, mugs refilled, and was wiping down the stove. Unsure what to do, not for the first time around Denise, he waited on her.

“Sit down, Mack,” she said. Tossing the sponge she’d been using into the sink, she came around the island to the table and sat.

Well, all right. Frowning, he went to one of the chairs with a plate set before it, and sat down. Pancakes, eggs and bacon. Not exactly the healthiest of meals but it was great comfort food, and just what he needed.

Book 5’s been accepted!

So very happy to say that Evernight Publishing accepted book 5 of the C&M Security series on Monday. I just signed the contracts so now that it’s a done deal I can share the wonderful news. This book is the last in the current time line of the series for a short while, as book 6 will be a prequel to give some more details of where the C&M crew all started out from. Should be a blast!

Accepted grunge stamp

Not sure when I’ll be starting book 6 though. I have something else, very undefined though, rattling around in my head. I may need to poke at that a little first and see where it leads. Or at least maybe clear it out of my head so I can focus on the next instalment of the series at hand. I have the premise already worked out in my head for book 6, just haven’t yet heard the characters put in anything. Definitely know what needs to go into it though so that’s a plus. Lot’s of background of course, more in depth knowledge about each of the characters already introduced, and then meeting some of those that may yet have their own book down the line. Haven’t decided yet if I plan to do more with the C&M series after this prequel. I think it’s all up in the air until I figure out what all this next book will reveal about the “world” they live in.

For now though, I’m going to have a celebratory bevvie, watch a movie, and chill out for the evening. I’ve got nothing much planned except for some relaxation. Who knows, might shake something loose that will be useful. Until next time folks ~ Moira

A toasty Tuesday

Came home feeling a little wilted around the edges today. Not all of which had to do with the lovely heat we’re currently getting – yay summer! Work was more than a little bleh! today. Some peoples children should never have been set lose on the world at large – at least not without warning labels tattooed across their foreheads in big block letters. Something along the lines of “I’m an idiot, and everything out of my mouth will make you curse the fact you got of bed today” would do nicely. After all, forewarned is forearmed damn it.

Maybe it’s just me and my particular job. Look, I know that not everyone knows what I do about it. Hell, I don’t even know everything about it – but I have people around me with plenty more experience upon which I can draw from. And I do, draw upon their experience, after all – that’s why they are there. Mostly. Sort of. Actually I think they are there to do other work but if I find them standing around looking lost I’m damn well going to use them for all I can get until they run away screaming. But that’s a different issue and we won’t be going there tonight.

Damn, where was I? Oh, right, all melting and getting home. So! I get home, get in my comfy clothing, grab a nice cold drink and then get online to see what’s been happening while I’ve been toiling in the mines during the day. So many good things, including a new blog post from one of my “friends” on Facebook. She is an author, quite well known in certain circles, and she is wise beyond her years. I love her view on things and the fact that she tells it like it is. Best way to recover from a blah day in the salt mines is to read anything she’s written. Now, I shall admit *hangs head in shame* I’ve not actually read any of her books. BUT! She is on my TBR list – a couple of her books actually are sitting there patiently awaiting me to get to them. I swear I will get to them so I can lift my head up proudly once more. But it will have to wait, cause it ain’t happening tonight LOL!

I’m off to do some writing and finish up watching my movie. Hope you all have a great night ~ Moira

The gift of Education

10527366_284094728443222_7015729994854315924_n

Something amazing to discuss, but quickly, for tonight’s post since it’s nearly time to take more of my cough medication (yes I have a bit of cold, I’m surviving though).

Each year Evernight Publishing does a fundraiser event. This year they have chosen World Vision’s Education for Girls Fund. For every sale between July 14 and July 21, 2014 they will donate the FULL cover price to this cause.

For more information you can check out the page I have set up for this week only >HERE<. You can also check out Evernight Publishing’s Blog >HERE< to read what some of the author’s have answered to the question: What does education mean to you?

And, last bit of info to pass along – purchases off both the Evernight site >HERE< and the Evernight Teen site >HERE< are a part of this campaign. So, buy a book (even if it isn’t mine) and know that your money is going to the great cause of helping a young girl get an education.

All right, that’s all I have for you tonight. Go, buy, and smile! ~ Moira

Summer has arrived

With a vengeance. It’s wonderful really. After a horridly cold winter, and then an indecisive spring, it’s nice to be warm again. It won’t last sadly, but while it does I’m enjoying every second. We’ve even gotten a bit of rain some of the evenings which makes sleeping so wonderfully comfortable. I love when it rains at night, so much more than when it does it the instant I leave work.

I’ve been working on book 4 of C&M Security. No title yet, but I never decide that until the very end, or close to anyway. I’m not one of those people that just knows what the name will be. Sometimes it’ll come to me at an important spot of the story. Usually not though, lol! The writing is going pretty well, it’s a slightly different story from the others. It’s still got trouble in it, it’s still got C&M in it, and it will also be introducing a character that will have a major role in the next book of the series. Haven’t figured where I’m bringing in said character, but I know it will be soon…ish.

Other than that I’ve had a few ideas on a couple other stories I’ve been puttering on. One’s a standalone, the other is a paranormal that I’m still trying to figure out the “rules” of since it’s not of an earthly nature. Trying to figure out how their world works, and all that fun stuff. Then there’s this other potential story that is circling, no clue what it is, but the beginning just keeps circling in my head over, and over, and over, and over again.

On that thought, I’m off to jot this beginning down so maybe I can purge it. Until another day ~ Moira

Day four of a four day weekend

First off, to all my fellow Canucks…

happy-canada-day-facebook-timeline-covers1

Well, this is the last day of my four day weekend – which is so depressing. I quite enjoy this long weekend stuff, I really like it and I’m damn productive too! But it sadly means that I have to go back to the evil “day job”. After finishing and submitting C&M 3 yesterday, tentatively titled “Dangerous Lines”, I started to work on book 4. Actually got a good start to it, not a lot – it was pretty damn late last night – so I wasn’t expecting to get a lot done.

The foundation is there though I still need to figure out how to take it from the tie in of the start deeper into the story. This one will be a slight shift, a different look into the C&M Security I’ve set-up already. While it’s not a departure by any means, it will be a little different take – I hope. LOL! So hard to tell at this point since I’m waiting on the characters to throw in with their ideas on how this will all go. Yes, I’m one of “those” writers. I have no issue allowing my characters to drive my writing bus. Though I do hang onto the map and at least try to play navigator so we don’t end up doing a swan dive into a gorge.

This book will also be stretching my knowledge a little. I’m by no means an expert in anything I write about. This one may need me to reach out to a few folks that are more knowledgeable than I could ever dream of being. Not sure yet, as it all depends on how the characters pull me along. We shall just have to see.

Anyway, I think that covers everything so far today. I need more coffee and then I have a bunch of projects to get working on. So I’m off, have a great day, especially my fellow Canadians. At least at this end of the country it’s turning out to be a beautiful, sunny day. HAPPY CANADA DAY! ~ Moira
