Need more coffee…

Ugh!

Yup, that pretty much covers my feelings on this day so far. If it’s not one thing it’s another. I swear, my brain is like a narcoleptic hamster on an acid trip that’s stuck clinging to his wheel as it spins madly out of control. Think on that one a while, it’s not a pretty vision. What this all boils down to is a lack of any form of concentration on my WIP. Not a good thing. Need to get this puppy put to bed so I can get rolling on the next one that is already harping on the brain. Thankfully with that deranged hamster in control it’s a pretty low drone of harping, way-way in the distance of my head. For the moment.

It’s when it finally manages to get past the off-his-rocker hamster that I need to truly concern myself with. Don’t need that kind of pressure riding me, from myself no less, to finish my book. Nope, totally not required, needed, nor wanted. With that in mind I intend to caffeinate myself a little more and get to work.

As long as I’m not vibrating too hard of course. It is incredibly difficult to type when your body is vibrating out of control. Though I do find it leads to some funny out takes of what a scene could be with one misplaced word. One word – all it takes to change a scene if it’s the “right” word in a key moment of the scene.

But that’s an entirely different story for maybe another day. Maybe. Right now I’m off to refill the mug, focus with laser guided accuracy on my WIP and get to work! At least that’s the plan. Though I know better than to plan too much, too far along the way. I always end up derailing myself with something… OH! SHINY! As I was saying, best not to get too far ahead. Coffee, writing, all other things of distraction are on the back burner.

Okay… I’m going in. Have a great Sunday folks! ~ Moira

Twists and turns

tumblr_mvjt2oIiZB1r87au9o1_500Hey, it’s Thursday! Which means tomorrow is Friday – thank you, oh thank you! Holy crap has this been a week. It may have been short, but I seriously don’t think it could have been any more mucked up. I am of course referring to my evil “day job”. Really need to win a lotto or find out one of those spam emails about my wealthy relative leaving me everything is real. Sadly, no wealthy relatives that I know of. Some reasonably well off ones, but none like I’d need to ensure I could write full time. *Sighs*

Oh well, onto much happier news. Been working on book four if C&M Security, and I have to say, it’s coming along nicely. I’ve gotten my characters to finally, FINALLY, admit to one another how they actually feel for one another. Little shits have kept dancing around it. While I’m sure it will read great, it’s been a bit of a guessing game for me as the author. I had to wait until the absolute perfect moment so there was a little more build up, and a bit heavier on the tension between them.

Got over that hurdle though so now it’s relatively smooth sailing to the ending. Which I mostly have figured out, though I may need to tweak it a bit here and there as I go. This of course all completely depends on my characters behaving and toeing the line. Yeah, I don’t really see that happening either. They damn well have their own minds about how this book is being written. I’ve had to work myself around a couple of their “additions” already. Good gods who knows what the hell is coming next.

So with that said, I’m off to face my characters and see what they’ve come up with to drive me batty tonight. Have a great one everybody, and remember – tomorrow’s FRIDAY! ~ Moira

A toasty Tuesday

Came home feeling a little wilted around the edges today. Not all of which had to do with the lovely heat we’re currently getting – yay summer! Work was more than a little bleh! today. Some peoples children should never have been set lose on the world at large – at least not without warning labels tattooed across their foreheads in big block letters. Something along the lines of “I’m an idiot, and everything out of my mouth will make you curse the fact you got of bed today” would do nicely. After all, forewarned is forearmed damn it.

Maybe it’s just me and my particular job. Look, I know that not everyone knows what I do about it. Hell, I don’t even know everything about it – but I have people around me with plenty more experience upon which I can draw from. And I do, draw upon their experience, after all – that’s why they are there. Mostly. Sort of. Actually I think they are there to do other work but if I find them standing around looking lost I’m damn well going to use them for all I can get until they run away screaming. But that’s a different issue and we won’t be going there tonight.

Damn, where was I? Oh, right, all melting and getting home. So! I get home, get in my comfy clothing, grab a nice cold drink and then get online to see what’s been happening while I’ve been toiling in the mines during the day. So many good things, including a new blog post from one of my “friends” on Facebook. She is an author, quite well known in certain circles, and she is wise beyond her years. I love her view on things and the fact that she tells it like it is. Best way to recover from a blah day in the salt mines is to read anything she’s written. Now, I shall admit *hangs head in shame* I’ve not actually read any of her books. BUT! She is on my TBR list – a couple of her books actually are sitting there patiently awaiting me to get to them. I swear I will get to them so I can lift my head up proudly once more. But it will have to wait, cause it ain’t happening tonight LOL!

I’m off to do some writing and finish up watching my movie. Hope you all have a great night ~ Moira

Day one of a four day weekend

Yup, that’s right! I got me a four day weekend. With Canada Day on Tuesday the boss said to hell with it, we’re not working Monday. The reality is, he didn’t want to work on Monday since he wanted to go out to his trailer to spend the weekend on the lake. Don’t blame him, the weather today is freakin’ fantastic! From the forecast, except for a “possible chance of precipitation” the four days look like they will be stellar.

Which means I have four days to write, write and write some more. On day one, today, I slept in. I’ve been battling a bit of a head cold on top of my yearly bout of allergies. It’s been a challenge but with my buddy the Kleenex box at my side, I’ve been making it through. Beyond a bit of sinus ache, it’s actually not all that bad this year around. We’ve had just enough rain to help with the dust issue that always arises right around this time. It’s one of my bigger allergy issues, that and the dry crap that’s kicked up when people mow and de-thatch their lawns for the first couple times of the year. Yes, I’m horribly allergic to the dust kicked up by mowed lawns. If I even get a whiff of a freshly mowed lawn at this time of year I will travel four blocks out of my way to avoid it just so I don’t have the wonderful seizing in my lungs. Can’t avoid it entirely, but I damn well try for the first bit. After the first month though it doesn’t much affect me, unless I’m the poor sucker out there doing the mowing. Which, as I have no lawn thanks to apartment living, I don’t ever have to do.

Up to bat on the writing front is C&M book 3. Still need to finish this sucker off. So I have my TV playing softly in the background, coffee at my elbow, and this sucker is getting done this weekend. Come hell or… Okay, given where I live, I’m not finishing that. Since we had high water’s last year and I’m not temping Fate or anything else. *knocking on wood*

With all that in mind, I’m off to do some writing. Hope you all have a lovely weekend ~ Moira

Sunny Saturday…

It’s actually sunny out there, not kidding in the least! It’s a miracle really, given I was starting to feel like I was living in Vancouver (hehe!) after the last couple of weeks of nearly constant rain, and drizzle. I love my neighbors to the West, but seriously, keep the rain over there. Those of us living right across the Rockies are still feeling a little twitchy from last year over anything more than a couple hours of rain.

If I didn’t feel like such a pile o’ shit right now, I think one of my co-workers gave me her cold, I’d be out enjoying it. Instead I’ve been cleaning furiously in an effort to sweat some of it out. Now that I’ve exhausted myself though I think I shall write for a while before I go shopping. Nothing exciting though, just some food for my relatively bare fridge. Not bare-bare, but definitely lacking more than a few beverages, bread, butter and eggs. Need something for dinner, something with a bit of substance, maybe a nice thick and juicy steak. Oh god that sounds good! Of course, if I’m still feeling crappy when I go shopping I’ll likely just get a bunch of comfort foods instead, lol! It’s always that way.

On the writing front I’m stuttering through a bit of C&M Security book 3. I’ve been playing around with getting my hero and heroine back into town to confront the bad guy after they made a necessary, and strategic, retreat to recover from what he’d done. Now I need to get them back onto the playing field, quickly, so that this guy goes down – hard. Not really sure how I’m going to do this, but we’ll see. I’ve got a few ideas that I’ve been playing through, seeing how they’ll come to a conclusion. So far only two really seem to work, but I’m not really sure if it fits them. Oh well, it’ll work out, always does.

GOT-24

I think that’s it from me. I’m going to watch a bit of backlogged TV – Games of Thrones and 24 – while I write. Maybe I’ll be hit by some inspiration ~ Moira

Need to play catch-up

I only took three days off, but damn did it throw me behind the proverbial ball. Today was shot too since I had other things that needed doing, like getting my hair cut, doing laundry, and reading everything in my inbox and off of Facebook in an attempt to get caught up on all the latest.

Did a bit of writing as well, since I’m three days behind on that too. Didn’t get quite as much as I’d have liked done, but I’m back in the groove of things so that’s a major plus. This weekend, on top of a number of other things, have totally thrown my schedule for getting book three of the C&M Security series submitted. Not going to stress on it though. No reason to, and it doesn’t do a damn lick of good either.

Had a good visit with the family though. It was actually pretty relaxing in comparison to some of my other trips to see them. A very nice change actually. Though my mother still won’t let me sleep in to what I term an “acceptable time”. She does it on purpose, I know this, yet every single morning I’m still awoken way earlier than I’d like and my nerves are shot for a good four or five hours. The woman has it down to a science. Likely had to, given what a deep sleeper I am.

I have a couple of shows I need to catch up on, one of which apparently has had it’s season finale apparently. Since I’m also a couple shows behind, on the same series, I’ve been studiously avoiding any and all mention of anything in relation online. Never realized just how damn hard that was until this one, lol!

In other news I think I might just have a concept for a new stand alone. Not sure, but we’ll see. I was jotting notes down on the trip back last night so we’ll just have to wait and find out if it’s something my brain will actually want to write. Only real issue is, I’m not entirely sure what all my notes mean. There are a couple that, at the time they obviously made perfect sense, yet in the light of a new day don’t mean shit! LOL! Oh, dear. Well, maybe it’ll come back to me when I eventually get around to it. I have other stories to write first before I get too caught up in that.

pacific-rim-poster-banner-053013

I think that’s it for tonight. I have a B movie I have saved on my PVR that I plan to watch tonight. “Pacific Rim” for anyone that’s wondering. It’s got Charlie Hunnam in it, which was reason enough to record it for later viewing. I honestly don’t remember it so I’ll have to see how “bad” it really is. So, if anyone’s seen it – don’t tell me. I don’t mind some of the B movies honestly. There are some though, the made for TV so-called B movies (they aren’t B, they are not that high up in the alphabet) that I cannot stand. We shall just have to see where this one falls.

Have a good night ~ Moira

Ahhh, Friday

Finally! It was a long, long week. Thankfully it is over. Unfortunately I know just how the next one’s going to start – not very pleased about that part. Not much to do about it though, so I shall enjoy my weekend, and ignore the fact it will be over far too soon.

This weekends big plans involve doing up edits on C&M Security, book one. I would have done them sooner but I just couldn’t concentrate, had a headache the one night, and was just too damn tired the rest of the time. So, tomorrow while I ingest mass quantities of coffee I will be reading through all the little notes my editor likely has in there. Oh, there will be many I’m sure.

I am hopeful though that it’s not overly horrendous. Oh, how I feel for you my poor editor. I do hope I’m learning though. Slowly I shall be the first to admit, but I truly think I am learning a bit of this. So we shall see. I did open it enough to see who the editor was, and read her first comments. But that was all I could manage since my head was just not in the game. Hell, I had to read it four times just to get what she was saying. All good in that initial comment I will say, thank God.

After I sweat my way through the edits I think I’ll get some writing done. I really haven’t done much this past week. I’ve got my path I intend to take on C&M 3, it should be great if it writes the way I think it will. As long as my characters don’t get all up in arms and decide to take over running the show. I never know with them, they are a bunch of characters for sure…HA!

Well, that’s it for me. I think it will be a nice and lazy night tonight. Have a great night, sweet dreams, and have a wonderful weekend ~ Moira

Week’s going great

So far anyway, lol! Yesterday wasn’t too bad, except for the drenching I got as I dashed semi-quickly home from work. I was definitely more than just a little soggy by the time I got here. There was much squish-squish happening as I dripped my way to my place. I hate having wet shoes – nasty!

Plus side though, got my contract signed, and sent off for book 2 of the C&M Security series. As well as doing up the blurb/cover art sheet – that went back to Evernight Publishing as well. Did some writing and I think I may even have an idea for book 3 in this series. It’s vague right now so I’m just letting it rumble around in my head.

Stayed up a bit too late last night and then just couldn’t fall asleep. Not because my brain was spinning but because I honestly couldn’t get comfortable. Damnedest thing too. Especially given what I spent on my awesome mattress. Frickin’ thing cost nearly a very large mortgage payment – if I paid mortgage that is. But it was a Christmas gift so, in my humble opinion, well worth it. I love my bed. My bed is awesome! But last night we just weren’t in the groove together.

I had a LOT of coffee today to combat my need to sleep. That and I needed to try, I said “try”, to keep my wandering mind focused. I think I left my brain in bed this morning because I was seriously disorganized and mildly chaotic. I did, somehow, manage to get a lot of work done though. Not a fucking clue how! Really, I have no idea how the hell I managed it.

Well, that’s it for the moment. I think I’ll go hunt down something for dessert and vegetate in front of the TV and computer for a like. Have a good night ~ Moira

Not a thing was accomplished today!

I did absolutely nothing today. Well, not exactly nothing, I have been watching a LOT of TV today. I found the entire (very short) season of Graceland and have been soaking it in. I sort of meant to watch it when the season was actually on but, well, I forgot and then it was over. [Insert pouty face here.]

But! Redemption was mine when we had it show up here as an all day thing. Taped them all and then just needed a weekend to myself to watch it. I have thoroughly been enjoying this show I have to admit. Lots of great characters, lots of wheelin’ and dealin’, lies, cover stories and shit that’s just waiting to hit the fan! I’m nearly done the season, I think it was ten shows in total, and I’m approaching the finale. Get to see if some of the lies are finally revealed and if the head guy, Briggs is the characters name, is found out. Sooooo exciting!

Graceland

Haven’t done any writing this weekend, just haven’t felt the need yet. I might tomorrow if the weatherman continues to be right about the up and down weather though. We had a bit of sun today interspersed by hellish rain showers. Damn, that shit could’ve stripped paint off a car it seemed to be coming down so hard. Just glad I did my run to the store before it hit otherwise I’d likely still be wet.

That’s it! I have more TV to watch so I’m out of here ~ Moira

The return

To work after a long weekend sucks ass. It’s like a Monday times two. Only plus side to it all was the fact that it was damned quiet at work. It let me get in a couple of cat naps which I definitely needed. Tomorrow should be interesting though since I have family in town that I’m supposed to be meeting up with at some point. Not sure how we’re coordinating all this but I’m sure we’ll figure it out…eventually.

Did a crap load of writing on the weekend. Got a new WIP going strong at just over 13k on the word count and something else niggling in my head. No clue what it is yet and it’s really only coming to me in bits and pieces but it just might be something new. We’ll have to see how it plays out and where these new characters lead me. I’m betting it will be an interesting and likely a wild ride.

Got a bunch of reading done on the weekend too, just to let my poor brain relax in between bouts of writing. I find it’s a great relaxer to wipe the mind clean and let it restart and ramp back up again. Especially when it’s fun and great stories.

Well, since I’m starting to babble, I think it’s time to go and do something else. ~ Moira
